Comments on Nutec 2008!

Reinhard Backhausen, Backhausen Interior Textiles GmbH, Vienna, Austria: The recent NUTEC can be considered a very successful event – and with good reason. All the exhibitors (including us) were very satisfied! We and others made valuable contacts among both exhibitors and visitors. One of the great advantages of this fair was that there were many discussions involving companies from ALL SECTORS, which focused on building the future according to the principles of "Cradle to Cradle".
Our congratulations and thanks go to all your staff who did an outstanding job in organising the event.

Lauren Heine, Clean Production Action, Bellingham, USA: First of all, I loved it! There were so many interesting people however, that I did not have a chance to see everything that I had hoped to see. But that is good. It will bring me back next time.
The only suggestion I have is that I found the program layout confusing. Perhaps you could completely separate the German and English text sections and lay out the different sessions side by side so that it would be easier to see which sessions were happening at the same time. Or perhaps you could print a table in the back that lays out the concurrent sessions in addition to the descriptions. Either way, any design that would help with tracking concurrent sessions would be helpful. Other than that, I thought Messe Frankfurt and EPEA did a wonderful job. Congratulations! And have a wonderful Christmas holiday and New Year.

Michael Gugenberger, Wexla, Salzburg, Austria: I have fond memories of NUTEC not only because of the useful contacts and stimulating conversations but also because of the perfect assistance, smooth organisation and friendly service provided by Messe Frankfurt. It was the first time that I had taken on complete responsibility for the company's own booth and was correspondingly nervous. You and your colleagues were simultaneously "a calming influence and emergency service" and played a key role in ensuring the event was a success for us.

Kjersti Kviseth, 2025design, Jar, Norway: This was one of the best conceived trade fairs I have ever experienced – bright and friendly in fresh colours and a good design, the "shower cubicles" worked wonderfully well for the presentations and there was enough space to breathe and recharge. The presentations were interesting and offered a good mix of topics. The general atmosphere was particularly positive and completely free from aggressive sales tactics.

Ellie Bird, The Egg Project, Palma de Mallorca, Spanien: In just three days... we talked to over 600 people, all of whom reacted positively to the concept. THE EGG was out there. And, importantly, some reactions were so positive that we now have a firm offer for construction: Thank you, Erwin Thoma, and are off in December to discuss the project with Ignasi Cubina and the CtoC team in Barcelona.
So, thanks to everyone involved in the organisation of Nutec, thanks to all those people, companies and institutions who were so encouraging and, of course, thank you, Michael Braungart and William McDonough, for making it possible in the first place.

Erwin Thoma, Ing. Erwin Thoma Holz GmbH, Goldegg, Austria: At first we approached the fair very sceptically as an experiment and had serious doubts as to whether it would be worthwhile participating.
I have been attending trade fairs for some 20 years as a self-employed entrepreneur but I have never attended such a wonderful fair. Although, of course, it is impossible for the first event to have a mass attendance, we have never before experienced such a high quality of visitors and contacts. Practically everyone visiting our booth fell within our target group. The atmosphere was excellent and the work we did was extremely productive. The follow-up work we have done so far also confirms our initial impression.
And I am also doing something I have never done before as a businessman: If there is a NUTEC next year, we want to register for it right now. In the future, the area that Nutec focuses on will offer exceptional growth and opportunities. We will certainly be part of it.

Your dedication and commitment is more than a boon for Messe Frankfurt – no, it is actually priceless! So we live in hope of a repeat event in Frankfurt! I remember the many wonderful moments I experienced during these few days at Nutec in Frankfurt – what more could anyone wish for!?
